A detailed report/feedback from Yamuna Arun

A very vibrant 10th successive Kannada Habba celebrated by Irish Kannadigara Sangha

Irish Kannadigara Sangha (IKS) marked yet another milestone by celebrating its 10th successive Kannada Habba on 7th November 2015 at Kilnamanagh community centre, Dublin, Ireland.
A very mesmerizing cultural and traditional Rajyothsava celebrations was a befitting treat to the members of IKS at this wonderfully decorated venue, which catered to the attendance of almost 200 IKS members from all over Ireland. In a way, this much loved Kannada Habba is not only the celebration of our Kannada Rajyothsava, but also a platform to network with the Kannada community in Ireland. The efforts of all the members directly or indirectly involved in organising, planning and executing this event is much applauded and appreciated.

The 10th Year of Kannada Habba began as always with offering of prayers to Lord Ganesha, followed by welcome speech and a series of cultural events, which included Carnatic music and 20 kids presenting a fashion show in a very traditional attire, before breaking for a very delicious lunch, which I am sure was relished by everyone among the attendees. The desert was icing on the cake and was kindly sponsored by IKS members. The post lunch sessions was just superb and fabulous, which included a melodious musical event by our own Dublin gurus, a comedy drama by younger members of the group, a glamorous fashion show, several dynamic dance performances and finally a light humorous skit, which I am certain was enjoyed by all the members A prominent mention regarding the 10th Kannada Habba was the extensive participation and enthusiasm shown by student’s members of IKS, which gives us an assurance that the future of IKS is with very talented hands with potential to expand further on IKS activities. It was also a privilege to have the mayor of south county Dublin as a guest of honour during the latter half of post lunch session, who also briefly addressed the IKS gathering. The Kannada Habba was finally concluded by vote of thanks and IKS members joining hands to declutter the venue before dispersing. What a delightful event to truly celebrate the Kannada Habba for the 10th consecutive time, will cherish it for the time ahead.

The 10th Kannada Habba was generously sponsored and supported by Real TV Ireland and IKS members.
The IKS activities have helped evolve and encourage inborn talents among the group members, provide a homely atmosphere to the new comers from Karnataka in Ireland among many other social and moral support activities. The aura of IKS has spread beyond Ireland and have extensively reached our sandalwood stars and it was indeed a delight to see several sandalwood stars wishing the IKS members on the occasion of 10th Kannada Habba. All of this is just a beginning of a wonderful journey ahead for IKS.

Irish Kannadigara Sangha invites you all to their 10th successive Kannada Habba

The number itself tells a lot about this Kannada Habba.

Since the creation of group in 2006, IKS has come a long way. From a 20 member yahoo group in 2006 to 200+ Facebook members today, IKS has achieved a lot.

Thanks to the contribution from all members, we have celebrated Ganesha Habba ever year, organised summer events and cricket games, musical night and also screened Kannada movies.

If your support and contributions continue we shall grow bigger and bigger in the coming years and organise much more group events.
